Matthias F. Wucherer is the Head of the Flowering Landscapes Network at Mellifera e.V., where he has been leading initiatives to promote biodiversity and sustainable land use since 2018. Previously, he held roles in aquatic ecotoxicology and beekeeping at Eurofins Agroscience Services. Matthias also has extensive research experience in neuroethology and fish ecology from his academic career at the University of Tübingen.

About:

Matthias F. Wucherer serves as the Head of the Flowering Landscapes Network at Mellifera e.V., where he has been dedicated to fostering biodiversity and sustainable land management since 2018. Under his leadership, the network has played a crucial role in enhancing landscapes to support pollinators and ecosystems, contributing to broader environmental conservation efforts.

Prior to his current role, Matthias worked at Eurofins Agroscience Services as a Study Director in aquatic ecotoxicology, specializing in the safety of plant protection products, with a particular focus on fish ecotoxicology. Additionally, he led the beekeeping team, directing honey bee field studies to evaluate the ecological impact of agrochemicals.

His academic background includes a research career at the University of Tübingen, where he completed a PhD in neuroethology, focusing on the functions and mechanisms of red fluorescence in fish. During his time there, Matthias also played a key role in setting up large experimental aquarium systems and mentoring students. His work is complemented by earlier experience with the Hanns Seidel Foundation and the Bayerisches Landesamt für Umwelt, where he contributed to environmental management plans for protected species and habitats.
