Lynette Thorstensen is a highly regarded expert in ethical governance, sustainable business strategy, and climate action. With over 30 years of international experience, Lynette has made significant contributions to global sustainability and human rights advocacy.
Most recently, Lynette served as Chair of the Board at Fairtrade International, where her three-year tenure marked transformative achievements, including strategic leadership of FI's Five-Year Strategy (2020–2025), enhanced climate action initiatives, and the integration of smallholder producers from Africa, Latin America, and the Asia Pacific into decision-making processes. She also played a pivotal role in Fairtrade's first-ever participation at the UNFCCC COP26 in Glasgow.
Lynette's extensive career spans leadership roles across prominent organizations such as the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, where she served as Managing Director of Communications, and Greenpeace Australia Pacific, where she was CEO. In these capacities, Lynette advanced campaigns on environmental issues and led high-profile international initiatives, such as the successful 1995 global campaign against French nuclear testing.
Currently, Lynette is a consultant specializing in ethical chairing, ESG strategies, and sustainable development. She is also Global Chair Advisory Board (Incoming) for Poetry for Planet, a a youth led global movement fostering environmental advocacy through art, and a Board Member at the France New Zealand Association.
