Julian Granados is an environmental economist with extensive experience in climate change, biodiversity protection, and sustainable finance. He holds a Ph.D. focused on blockchain technologies for financing environmental services and has expertise in nature finance and ecosystem management. As Project Manager at RCLM Berlin, he facilitates the integration of sovereign climate performance data into sustainable finance frameworks, helping financial institutions align investment decisions with environmental goals. Previously, he worked with indigenous Wayuu communities in Colombia through the GIZ-supported IKI-MIMAC project, developing financial mechanisms to support marine protected areas. Julian has also explored blockchain technologies for financing environmental services.
He has worked globally, coordinating research at New York University Berlin, promoting kinetic education for neurodivergent children in Latin America, and contributing to UNEP’s South-South Cooperation initiatives. His publications include studies on blockchain’s potential for environmental service payments and adapting climate adaptation projects to local governance structures. Fluent in several languages, Julian is skilled in sustainable finance, institutional cryptoeconomics, and marine conservation, and is passionate about developing innovative solutions for global environmental challenges.
