Christoph Schmitz is the Founder and CEO of Acker.co, where he promotes sustainability and healthy eating through educational programs that have reached over 100,000 children. He also founded Ackerpause, which brings urban farming to workplaces and neighborhoods, and Acker Impact, focusing on environmental initiatives. Christoph holds a strong background in research, having worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and as a Founder of sustainable farming initiatives in Ghana.

About:

Christoph Schmitz is a dedicated advocate for sustainability and healthy food systems, serving as the Founder and CEO of Acker.co since April 2014. His vision is to foster greater appreciation for nature and food by transforming societal awareness towards sustainability and nutrition. Through Acker’s educational programs, such as GemüseAckerdemie and AckerRacker, he has impacted over 100,000 children at more than 900 learning locations across the DACH region. By 2030, Christoph aims to ensure every child experiences how food is produced and how nature operates within schools and kindergartens.

In addition to his role at Acker.co, Christoph is the Founder of Acker Impact, established in March 2024, focusing on environmental projects, and Ackerpause, which promotes office gardening and urban farming for collaborative harvesting experiences. His extensive background in research includes a Postdoctoral position at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and founding sustainable farming initiatives in Tamale, Ghana. Christoph's commitment to enhancing food systems and environmental stewardship continues to drive his work and initiatives in the sustainability sector.
