Cherian Mathew is a veteran technology leader, software architect, and three-time startup co-founder with more than two decades of experience transforming ideas into impactful digital products. Currently, he serves as Co-founder and Fractional CTO at Rootd.Earth, where he leads the development of AI-enabled platforms that foster collaboration and climate action. His work includes building backend systems, mobile/web applications, cloud infrastructure, and GenAI tools—always with an eye on social good and sustainable innovation.
Cherian’s journey has spanned diverse sectors, from humanitarian tech at the Norwegian Refugee Council, to wildfire detection platforms at Dryad Networks, to open-source community engagement at TeachSurfing. His expertise bridges deep technical knowledge, including CI/CD, containerization, GenAI, and cloud-native architecture, with strategic leadership for early-stage startups and nonprofits.
Whether acting as a Fractional CTO, full-time technical lead, or trusted advisor, Cherian is known for being a builder who empowers teams, champions user-centered design, and drives projects that solve real-world problems. He holds Master’s degrees in Scientific Visualization from the University of Groningen and Applied Statistics & Informaticsfrom IIT Bombay.
