Maja Göpel
About:
At 14, Maja began exploring why, as a society, we don't create the world we wish for as individuals. Through this journey, she learned that politics is not just a distant state institution, markets are not neutral, and democracy is more than just casting a vote. Over the years, Maja has established herself as a leading voice in sustainability, systems transformation, and social justice.
Maja is a political economist, a member of the Club of Rome, and a co-founder of the "Scientists for Future" network. She has held prestigious positions with the Wuppertal Institute and the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU) before she turned her full capacity toward Science Communication. Her research, media and advisory work focus on how society can shift towards sustainable futures through collective learning, binding rules, and collaboration.
Maja has authored several important works, including her bestsellers "Unsere Welt neu denken: Eine Einladung"(Rethinking Our World) and the "The Great Mindshift", which was featured in the Financial Times as one of the "Best new books on economics.". These books explore paradigm shifts and the societal transformations needed to address environmental and social challenges.
She is also actively involved with organizations such as the World Future Council and serves on several advisory and supervisory boards. Maja’s work continues to inspire change by emphasizing clarity in thought, reverence for life, and a focus on empowering individuals and communities to shape their future.
