Dr. Flávia De Souza Mendes is a leader for mission-related impact at the aerospace and data platform company, Planet. Dr. Mendes has been working in remote sensing focused on forestry and land use for more than 16 years, affiliated with a variety of institutions addressing climate change, tropical land management, and environmental protection. These include the Brazilian national agencies INPE and EMBRAPA, universities, and private sector companies. As a Program Manager of Forest and Land Use at Planet, she helps develop and bring to market new solutions in forest monitoring, sustainable land use and ESG that draw on the company’s global, daily satellite imagery and geospatial solutions. Dr. Mendes is also an active member of initiatives such as Ladies of Landsat, Women in Copernicus and RSATE that work towards a more inclusive and diverse environment in the geospatial sector.
